01 / The connected system

Good technology does a lot.
Connected, it does more.

What matters is how your systems work together. We bring generation, consumption and your preferences together in Loxone, and design the controls around them.

01

Put solar energy
to good use.

Use your own solar energy where it is needed: around the house, for hot water or to charge your electric car.

Generation meets consumption
02

Manage heat & cooling
with foresight.

Your heat pump and air conditioning respond to comfort needs, available energy and what your building can support.

Comfort meets efficiency
03

Plan charging
around your day.

Your EV charger takes your charging needs and available solar surplus into account. You decide when your vehicle needs to be ready.

Charging meets everyday life

Loxone is the brain. SOLLOX brings it all together.

We plan direct control of compatible devices through Loxone. Relevant data informs shared decisions, instead of each system looking only at its own needs.

Our approach ↗
02 / Everyday life. Intelligently coordinated.

Energy prices fluctuate.
Your building can respond.

Use more of your own electricity and shift flexible consumption to suitable times. This creates room to adapt, guided by your comfort needs and priorities.

Example scenario / Solar surplus

From your roof straight
into your everyday life.

Your home needs little electricity right now, while your solar system is producing more. Loxone takes the available surplus and your priorities into account.

Solar generation→ Loxone→ Heat / Charging
  • Heat water within agreed temperature limits
  • Use remaining solar power for the connected electric car
  • Reduce grid electricity for loads that can be shifted

Your benefit: More of your own energy stays with you.

Example scenario / Dynamic tariff

Lower-price periods.
Put to good use.

With a suitable dynamic electricity tariff and connected price data, flexible consumption can be shifted to lower-price periods.

Tariff data→ Loxone→Charging plan
  • Plan charging around your departure time
  • Consider solar generation and energy demand together
  • Respect comfort limits and device requirements

Your benefit: Make more cost-conscious decisions about flexible consumption.

Example scenario / Indoor comfort

A home that
fits your life.

Your preferred temperatures, schedules and priorities set the direction. Heating, cooling and shading are coordinated accordingly.

Your needs→ Loxone→ Room comfort
  • Adjust room temperatures to how spaces are used
  • Coordinate shading and cooling
  • Adjust personal settings in one place

Your benefit: Less manual adjustment in everyday life.

These scenarios illustrate possible operation. What can be achieved and saved depends on your equipment, interfaces, tariff, building and usage. We assess this for your project.

This share is an assumption, not a result calculated from a 15 kWh battery. Daily schedules, winter demand, charging times and storage losses determine actual coverage.

Solar priority: car and summer hot water

This example allocates all car-charging electricity to solar, plus normal hot-water preparation from June to September. These shares are already included in the selected total solar coverage, not added on top.

Electric car charged only from solar

Conditions for 100% solar charging: the car is plugged in in time, sufficient PV energy is available and charging can wait. The charger uses PV directly or battery energy previously charged exclusively from solar. When solar energy is insufficient, charging slows or pauses; grid charging stays disabled in this mode. This does not automatically guarantee 40 km every day throughout winter.

Summer hot water: solar electricity

Summer assumption: June–September, 122 days, with uniform hot-water demand. Solar energy supplies the normal temperature target; only further surplus enables the additional +5 °C boost.

Loxone enables +5 °C only as the final surplus load.

  1. Normal demand, including summer hot water, is served first; the car and battery are charged according to the agreed priorities.
  2. Only when the battery has reached its configured full-charge level, the car has reached its charging target and PV surplus remains does Loxone allow the heat pump to raise its hot-water target to normal +5 °C.
  3. The extra heating boost ends at the higher temperature target or when surplus is unavailable, respecting equipment run-time limits. Device limits and protection functions remain active. Once thermal storage is full too, remaining generation may still be exported or curtailed.
Additional comparison / Diesel or electric

The same distance. Two powertrains.

14,600 km per year: diesel, grid charging as a reference and solar charging in the surplus-only mode described. 0 KM means no purchased electricity for the car, not free equipment or zero total running costs.

Diesel per year2,190.00 KM

876 l × 2.50 KM/l

Electric car on grid power per year642.40 KM

2,920 kWh × 0,22 KM/kWh

Electric car charged only from solar0.00 KM

Annual purchased electricity cost in the conditional solar scenario

Diesel → solar charging: annual energy cost difference 2,190.00 KM

Home + mobility: the combined comparison.

Before: household and heat pump on grid electricity plus a diesel car. After: the same household and heating needs plus an electric car, with the assumed solar share.

4,126.00 KM → 902.44 KM · Energy costs in year one

31,863 KMGross energy cost difference over 10 years

9,963 KM + 21,900 KM
Home excluding car charging + diesel replaced by solar charging

The car’s 642.40 KM annual solar electricity saving is already included in the solar total. The combined result therefore adds solar savings excluding car charging to the full diesel replacement saving. Both comparison methods give the same total.

The model keeps diesel price and mileage constant for ten years. Vehicle purchase, depreciation, insurance, taxes and maintenance are excluded. This is not a vehicle total-cost comparison or net investment return.

40 km a day. Charged at home.

14,600 km per year × 18 kWh/100 km ÷ 90% charging efficiency equals 2,920 kWh drawn at the home connection. Consumption of 18 kWh/100 km and 10% charging losses are assumptions; the diesel comparison is shown separately.

Water as a small heat store.

For an assumed 300-litre tank, +5 °C stores about 1.74 kWh of additional heat. At COP 3, this is equivalent to 0.58 kWh of normal heat-pump electricity before heat losses.

This is not an additional cash saving on top of the total: any later grid electricity avoided is already included in the solar share. Higher water temperatures can reduce COP; controls stay within the permitted equipment and temperature settings.

Loxone coordinates the loads.

Only when the battery has reached its configured full-charge level, the car has reached its charging target and PV surplus remains does Loxone allow the heat pump to raise its hot-water target to normal +5 °C.

The savings shown relate to the complete system. An additional benefit attributable solely to Loxone is not calculated separately here.

All assumptions and the 10-year calculation
  • The model reduces the total useful solar contribution by 0.5% annually. Within this budget, fully solar car charging and summer hot water take priority; the remaining contribution for other loads declines. This is a conditional annual balance, not a time-resolved supply guarantee.
  • Solar planning assumption: 1,200 kWh per kWp per year, giving 18,000 kWh. This is not a site-specific PVGIS yield; roof conditions, shading and weather have not yet been assessed.
  • Space heating: 12,000 kWh of heat per year at a seasonal performance factor of 3. Hot water: 2,400 kWh of heat per year at COP 3. Household electricity adds 4,000 kWh per year.
  • The battery has a nominal capacity of 15 kWh. Usable capacity, conversion losses and load shifting through the +5 °C hot-water boost must already be reflected in the assumed solar share. Daily full cycles are not assumed.
  • Remaining solar production is not counted as a saving. No export income or credit at the retail electricity price is assumed.
  • A constant import price of 0.22 KM/kWh is used as specified. Fixed grid charges, investment, financing, maintenance, possible battery/inverter replacements and discounting are excluded. This is not net profit or a payback calculation.
  • Annual savings = grid electricity replaced by solar × 0.22 KM/kWh. From year two, the model reduces this contribution by 0.5% annually. This does not guarantee battery life or remaining capacity.

Good to know

Your questions.
Clearly answered.

Can my existing devices be connected?

That depends on the device and its available interfaces. We assess your existing solar system, heat pump, EV charger or air conditioning and clarify which data and control functions Loxone can use.

Do I need a dynamic electricity tariff?

No. Coordinating solar generation, consumption and comfort makes sense without a dynamic tariff too. A suitable tariff with available price data offers additional ways to schedule flexible consumption.

How much energy or money can I save?

There is no single figure that applies to everyone. Your equipment, building, usage and electricity tariff all matter. We assess your project individually instead of advertising a fixed savings percentage.

Can I set my own comfort preferences?

Yes. Preferred temperatures, usage schedules and charging targets are part of the planning. During setup and handover, we agree which settings you can adjust yourself later.
